We sat down with the ethereal actress, model, health foodie, and yogini Lexi Atkins. When she's not busy shooting movies like Ted 2 with Mark Wahlberg, finding the best super foods on the planet as an ambassador for ELF (Essential Living Foods), or practicing at her favorite Kundalini studio, she took an afternoon to talk all things yoga, crystals, YouTube, and staying true to yourself. Meet our Spiritual Gangster spotlight, Lexi!
What does being a Spiritual Gangster mean to you?

Being a Spiritual Gangster to me means that you are 100% confident in yourself and in your spiritual practices. You live each day to inspire yourself and others, while finding love in all walks of life because you realize that at the end of the day we are all truly one.  It means you know that your spirit truly is a “gangster” to live in this temporary human body on this crazy/beautiful place called earth. I’m proud to be a Spiritual Gangster.

Describe your yogi style:

My yogi style is always changing due to always having to play different characters for different roles… but one thing that always stays constant is that i’m OBSESSED with crystals. I have a lot of crystal jewelry that I like to wear on a daily basis, but when I can’t have jewelry on I’ll at least always have crystals in my purse. I use different ones for different reasons, but my favorites are amethyst and citrine!

What has been your favorite place to travel to?

I’ve traveled a lot throughout my life, and I can easily say that my all time favorite place to travel to was Egypt. One of my best friends got married there last year, and it was truly the most beautiful place I’ve ever been! I’ve dreamed of going there all my life, and to this day I still dream of that magical place! The energy there was incredible, and pictures could never do the pyramids any justice! If you’re in need of a vacation… EGYPT EGYPT EGYPT!

What’s your favorite mantra of the moment?

This may sound super clique… BUT my favorite mantra right now is Let Go. I know it gets thrown around a lot, but it’s something that I’ve been telling myself daily. The busier I get the more my mind likes to race back and forth, but with this simple mantra I’m able to come back to the present moment, knowing that everything is in divine order with the universe. With breath, and this mantra of the moment, I am free from fear. Aparigraha (non-attachment) I am liberated.

If you had to choose your favorite pose, what would it?

Again, nothing fancy, but my favorite pose is the extended child pose (aka Utthita Balasana). It stretches the spine, hips, knees and relieves tension in the body. It is my favorite resting pose, and my go to stretch. It helps me come back to my center, and whenever I get into this pose I feel an immense amount of gratefulness. With my arms extended forward and my head bowed to the ground I feel grounded, relaxed, and thankful.

When you’re not modeling or acting, what would your ideal day look like?

This is a very hard question, because I truly love what I do. An ideal day would usually involve some sort of performing, but if I were to have a day without these two things I think it would involve being some where in nature with some amazing healthy food, and my phone. LOL! I know that this doesn’t sound like a very “yogi” things to say, but I love to listen to different YouTube channels on health related topics and listen to different guided meditations online. So my ideal day would be alone in nature, eating, meditating, and watching nerdy health videos. Spirit science anyone?

What’s your favorite healthy go-to snack?

My all time favorite go to snack is the Superfood Trail Mix by Essential Living Foods. I am always on the go, so trail mix is an obvious go to for me. This organic trail mix is full of super foods that give you and your body that extra boost throughout the day! I am also an ambassador for ELF and we work in close collaboration with small farms and indigenous groups to supply our customers with the purest, most nutritious Superfoods on Earth. Our global trade partnerships help nourish sustainable agricultural practices and support meaningful development. 1% of profits are donated back to the communities who supply our products (via our partnership with 1% For the Planet). So lets be good to our bodies and our planet together!

What’s your go-to juice blend?

I have a lot of go to juice blends. It would depend on what’s going on in my body and what I’m trying to accomplish with each drink. But, for the moment my favorite blend has been the Organic Christmas Greens from Erewhon which has Cucumber, Celery, Dandelion, Cranberry, Kale, Parsley, Romaine, Apple, Lemon, and Ginger. I’m actually currently drinking it while doing this interview, but this time I also added a tsp. of Pure Planet Amla Plus, 1 tsp. Grainfields Australia Super Greens + Dunaliella, and a touch of stevia. So, I guess you could call this one #Alienprollums HA!

Are you a moon or a sun girl? And why?

Don’t get me wrong I definitely love my moon, but I would have to say I am a sun girl! There is something about the sun that always seems to leave a permanent smile on my face! The suns energy and warmth is all I usually need which makes this sunny state I live in beyond amazing! Illinois may have my heart, but the California sun sure keeps it beating!

What’s next on the agenda for Lexi?

I have a lot coming up on my agenda! I have three movies that will be released in 2015! My first one comes out this January where I work along side JLo in the universal film The Boy Next Door. You will also see me in Zombeavers coming to theaters in March, and Ted 2 in June! I am also on the new CW show coming out this year called “The Messengers”! I am so excited to be apart of this show with the most talented cast and crew! AAAAAND I am now the face of Zao certified Organic Makeup, which is a luxury brand that has just moved to the US. I am very passionate about health and longevity and this makeup has changed my life and skin forever! If you haven’t heard of us… please check us out! Your skin is your biggest organ, do it a favor and be kind to it!

Oh, I know just what you mean . . . in fact I usually do my posts on Thursday for Friday but was too tired (after gnteitg up at O’dark thirty for the sunrise) and fell asleep early. But my kids both had something to do at the high school this morning to get ready for school and for maybe the third time all summer I had the house to myself and was able to write. And that photo, is gorgeous!!
