Practicing Presence with Andy Kovszun

You are exactly where you are meant to be.

Wherever you’re reading this, whether you’re sitting on a bus, on a train, on your way to work or home. Maybe you’re lounging by the pool sipping on margaritas, living your best life, or slumming it in a backpacker’s in the backstreets of Thailand. Maybe you’re just sitting at your desk, procrastinating.

You are exactly where you are meant to be.

And if you’re not, then you’re exactly where you need to be to make a change. To take control, however small a step. The circumstances you’re in right now, are the exact journey you need to be on in order for you to realize you need a new path.

Think about it:

Sometimes it takes things to go all wrong for your to finally notice it’s time to step up and figure out how to get it right. A change in a different, new direction.

I trust in the universe, and in myself.

It’s stemmed from a desire to live an exceptional life. To give 110% into everything that I do. Without giving into the mundane, the repetitive, nor, at the other end of the spectrum, the unrealistic.

I do, however believe in the unimaginable. Those goals that are bigger then you’re wildest dreams. The ones that scare you and excite you all at once, the ones where you have to jump with your eyes closed and trust for the best on the landing. No one is going to make you do it, no one is going to push you. But you have all the power to make it happen, because you’re exactly where you’re meant to be.

Now I know what some of you might be thinking. What about responsibilities? What about my every day bills, my car loan, my kids I need to feed or my parents I need to take care of? Yes, these things are very real. They are a part of our values, what makes us human.  These things are very much important.

I still sit at my computer for long, sometimes very long hours in the day. I don’t always pay my bills on time and to be honest, toast has been on the menu for dinner a couple times. It’s never all fun and games. I come across the odd rejection or failure every now and again. While life isn’t a highlight reel, it certainly is a canvas for me to decide whatever I paint on it. I have control over how I enjoy my work, my relationships, my responsibilities. I have control over how I react.

Things don’t always go as planned or unfold the way I hope, but I understand with each failure or setback is a door that just wasn’t meant to open. Because something else will come along, something always comes along.

Even though I am still looking ahead at what’s around the corner, over the horizon at what could be, I still enjoy my place, here, right now.

I guess what I’m trying to say is; bring enthusiasm, gratitude, and trust to the table. Carry it with you wherever you go. In your pocket or your backpack, in your mind and in your heart.

Carry these three essential ingredients, and wherever you go, you’ll never be lost.
